Launching on the nation 250

AUSTRALIA TODAY NEWS BREAKING UPDATES: The tech world is currently operating in a state of high-octane speculation. While we are still several months away from the traditional September keynote, and with all eyes currently fixed on Apple’s upcoming March 4 event, a new leak has shifted the conversation from internal specs to external aesthetics. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the flagship color for the iPhone 18 Pro is currently testing as a “Deep Red”—a shade that could redefine the “Pro” look for a new generation.

For years, Apple has played it safe with “Pro” finishes, leaning heavily into the “utilitarian hues” of Space Gray, Silver, and Graphite. But the success of last year’s polarizing yet popular Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro has seemingly emboldened Cupertino’s design team to embrace the warm side of the color wheel once again.

From Product(RED) to “Taliesin West”: The Evolution of Crimson

This isn’t just another “Product(RED)” release. According to insiders and design critics, the rumored shade for the iPhone 18 Pro is sophisticated, earthy, and deep—reminiscent of the iconic OPI Big Apple Red or the desert-clay tones of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.

“I would be thrilled for a deep red iPhone 18 Pro,” says CNET’s mobile director of content, Patrick Holland. “It adds an earthy feel that is the polar opposite of the ‘in-your-face’ Cosmic Orange of the iPhone 17 Pro, which looks like the color of Sunkist soda.”

The Historical Timeline of Red iPhones

Apple has a storied, albeit sporadic, relationship with the color red:

  • iPhone 7 to iPhone 14: The “Product(RED)” partnership was a staple for the standard models, but it never quite made the leap to the “Pro” or “Pro Max” tiers, which were kept in more muted, metallic finishes.
  • iPhone 15/16 Pro: Apple experimented with “Blue Titanium” and “Natural Titanium,” leaning into the industrial look of the chassis material.
